Have you seen your digital shadow?

Check out this little promo for a video game called "Watchdogs."

The first thing you will see is this little warning: "You are not an individual. You are a data cluster."  Seconds later, you realize, that is no lie, brothers and sisters. They speak the gospel truth of online religion.

YOu will see catchy little segments on "Who You Are," "What Makes You Tick," and more.  The "Who You Care About" section is particularly creepy as people are identified as pawns ("YOU RARELY INTERACT WITH THESE CONTACTS AND WILL SACRIFICE THEM FOR SELF-PRESERVATION"), stalkers, liabilities, obsessions, and scapegoats ("YOU EXHIBIT HIGH LEVELS OF INTERACTON WITH THESE CONTACTS. THEY CAN BE USED AGAINST YOU").

It also charts your word usage and let's you compare with friends--now that was really interesting when I compared with my kids cool.

The final little piece of data is a calculation of how much your data is worth. I don't have a lot of friends and don't have a regular cadence of posts, etc., so my digital shadow came in at a paltry $77, 367.

This is a great way to advertise a video game. It's also a little eye opening in terms of what is readily available within my own digital shadow.

#hashtagged... this is how the future started, indeed.
