Writing a sequel

I've been working on Rising Sea's sequel, Dead Phoenix, pretty quickly. It is shaping up to be a more streamlined novel as opposed to Rising Seas. I always wondered if there was too much to do for the characters in Rising Seas and if the ending build-up wasn't rushed.
Anyway, the sequel has been interesting to write for me as I've never written a sequel to anything before. School essays rarely get a follow up of any kind. In a way, sequels seem easier because you have per-established characters who have set purposes, dreams, likes, dislikes, and etc. There wasn't much I added to the cast this time around except filling out Vladimir's father, Seth, and Alistair Sinclair's emotions and thoughts to have them become more realized...
Oh, and Alistair goes insane. There's that. That was fun to write.

I learned a lot writing Rising Seas and I hope to continue past Dead Phoenix with Regolith and several other novels. There's also Story of Zero, a monthly short story series that I've been planning and working on the side to fill time.

Thanks for reading, and see you around!
