A Blessing to others
Gen 47:7 And Joseph brought in Jacob his father, and set him before Pharaoh: and Jacob blessed Pharaoh
May I always be a source of blessing to others and not pain. May even my enemies recognize that I am a fountain of blessing over-pouring with goodness that impacts the environment not just for myself but for all that associate with me. Jacob was a blessing to Pharaoh. How can I be a blessing even to my enemies? Meditate on this. I believe Christians praying in a community become such a huge blessing in that neighborhood. Will your absence be felt if you relocate or are you perceived as a nuisance.
Another example of this was David who once was found in the camp of Achish – the Philistine King … even in that scenario, David was a blessing and the King was sorry to see him go.
1Sa 29:6 Then Achish called David, and said unto him, Surely, as the LORD liveth, thou hast been upright, and thy going out and thy coming in with me in the host is good in my sight: for I have not found evil in thee since the day of thy coming unto me unto this day: nevertheless the lords favour thee not
Do you know as Christians you carry so much favor that your presence alone can magnetize goodness and healing into situations. An evangelist on holiday once visited a shop and as he browsed the books on the stand, he met a man who had been ill for a while who did not know him as an evangelist but just exchanged greetings and shook his hand. But as he shook his hand, the sick man became well instantly. Have you ever been in situations where non-Christians have felt the positive impact of your presence? If not, then do examine your life again. This is what it means to be salt and light. To be a blessing and an illumination to darkness … to restore savor to lack of taste and to be an answer to begging questions.
Worse is if you have become part of the problem, always murmuring and criticizing …making things worse. Jacob blessed the heathen King. Lord, make me a blessing even to those that hate me.
Song.
Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
there is no shadow of turning with thee;
thou changest not, thy compassions, they fail not;
as thou hast been thou forever will be.
Great is thy faithfulness! Great is thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
all I have needed thy hand hath provided;
great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
sun, moon and stars in their courses above
join with all nature in manifold witness
to thy great faithfulness, mercy and love. Refrain
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside! Refrain
Prayer: Lord, make me a blessing to all that come in contact with me. Amen
