Chapter 185: Join the Throng
Tamaes loitered on a promontory to watch the morning sky fill with blush and blue, and Taweel let him. Hadn’t he done the same when he was new to such things? The sky was thick with angels on more urgent business then theirs. So when his apprentice jumped down to rejoin him, Taweel said, “We will walk.”
“So many people.” Tamaes sidestepped donkey dung and peeked inside a creaking cart.
“They are here for the festival,” Taweel said flatly.
Mahogany eyes swiveled to the limestone walls of their destination. “The holy mountain.”
“The footstool of heaven. The royal city. Jerusalem.”
