Classic Fantasy for a New Generation

The Lord of the Rings is certainly my parents’ fantasy. I grew up with the D&D universe, however, and my favorite author was R.A. Salvatore.

I got started with The Crystal Shard, and I came across this awesome review and summation of the novel, which you can find below.

If you haven’t read this fantasy book I highly suggest you add it to your “to-read” list. Like the article below says, the book’s got 3 murders in the first 15 pages!

It keeps up that great pace but doesn’t sacrifice on character development or plot. I’ve read this book at least 3 times and know I will again. You should too!

Scott Couldn't agree more. I think The Lord of the Rings is a much better book but The Crystal Shard spoke to me louder and I enjoyed it more even though The Lord of the Rings has made a bigger impact on me. It's a strange dichotomy and I'm not sure I'm articulating it as well as I could (just pulled a 19 hour straight workday)

Greg Strandberg I have yet to read the Lord of the Rings, but I'll get around to it. Meanwhile I just got this book in the mail last week, a nice used copy. I'll probably start in on it again here soon.

Thanks for reading!
