This spring Louisville's SLINT released a limited deluxe box set version ofSpiderland (remastered) on Touch and Go Records.  They followed it in June with a non-box set version, making it available as a single 180 gram LP + DVD (of the documentary Breadcrumb Trail), as a single CD + DVD, and as a digital album.  Spiderland (remastered) received a "10" from Pitchfork Media, labeling it a "Best New Reissue" and an "A" from The AV Club who said the release was "a thoughtful look at a legendary act, and one that's both long overdue and well deserved.". NPR recently streamed the record, stating "it's clear how much it deserves reconsideration as a work of haunting beauty and surprising warmth...the album still stands gloriously on its own as the modest and compact, six-song, 40-minute set it's always been. It's worth discovering and rediscovering, and worth celebrating as more than the sum of its influence." Spiderland (Remastered) Box Set contains Spiderland remastered, 14 previously unreleased demos and outtakes, an 104-page booklet of never-before-seen photos as well as a DVD of the Lance Bangs directed Slint documentary, titled Breadcrumb Trail, as well as exclusive, DVD-only bonus footage. The 90 minute documentary saw its theatrical release this last month.

Slint Spiderland photoSome Accolades For Spiderland over the past 23 Years:TOP 100 ALBUMS OF THE 1990S  -  PITCHFORK 100 BEST ALBUMS  -  NME100 GREATEST ALBUMS 1985-2005  -  SPIN I first heard Slint before they were called that, but the difference between them and their contemporaries was already in concrete. From the outset they made music to suit themselves, not an audience, and their dogged pursuit of the sound of their imagination is still utterly unique. Tendrils of continuity between the doom of heavy metal, the drama of modernist classical music and the rude musk of punk may not be apparent at first glance, but they glow like a web when illuminated by the fire of Slint's muse. Nobody thinks about their music, or music itself, like Slint. Love this fucking band.                                                 -- Steve Albini
