Chapter 168: And It Was Good
Omri tilted an elfin ear and peeped.
Taweel heard it, too, and grunted. “He has found us. But what is that?”
A faint scrape of metal upon stone brought back memories. He touched the hilt of the sword Tamaes had brought to him so long ago. Cradling Omri to his chest, Taweel started walking. “Tamaes?”
“Here I am!”
His apprentice trundled awkwardly into view, his spear hooked under his arm, its tip dragging along the ground. Taweel should have have scolded Tamaes for mistreating a weapon, but the spear’s importance dimmed. “A sword?”
Tamaes nodded.
“Good.” Taweel smiled. “Very good.”
