Today sees the release of "Fatboy Slim Slim Presents Bem Brasil" on Astralwerks and with only days left before ball meets boot in Brazil, Fatboy and his compatriots are here to get the party started early.Combining his love for music and football, Fatboy has delivered a lovingly curated collection of music encapsulating the soundtrack to this year's biggest event... The World Cup. "Bem Brasil" (roughly translated as 'Very Brasil') pays homage to Brasilian music and culture both on and off the dance floor. The 'unofficial soundtrack to this summer'sees Fatboy bringing together friends and respected peers from the international dance scene to produce a collection which features remixes of classic Brasilian music and brand new material. The eclectic line-up reflects Fatboy Slim's lifetime at the cutting edge of international dance music. From friends who have been there from the start such asCarl Cox and John Digweed, to the new generation who cite Norman as a major influence such asNervo and Psychemagik.
Fatboy's collaboration with Dimitri Vegas, Like Mike, and Diplo, "Eparrei", stands out as a highlight of this diverse record. The track is an un-paralleled slice of electro mambo, fusing the cutting edge EDM of the two award winning brothers and Diplo with Bonde Do Role's unique take on local Brasilian 'funk carioca'. Dmitri Vegas & Like Mike have amassed 8 #1 Beatport Records as well as hosted the legendary festival Tomorrowland, while Bonde Do Role has supported the Brasilian phenom CSS on tour across South America. "Eparrei" is a multinational anthem sure to scorch dance floors and ignite the party across the world.
The concept behind Bem Brasil is to capture both sides of the Brasilian lifestyle, Night and Day, and to express Norman's love for the country and the culture. This led Fatboy Slim to split the album into two separate discs of music, each one personifying one of these distinct atmospheres.
The first disc, 'Para Noite/Night Time', is the sound of Brasil's nightlife. A full on line up of absolute party bangers from the likes DJ Fresh, Fedde Le Grand, Nervo, Fatboy Slim himself and many more. 'Para Noite' is the sound of carnivals, late night beach raves and the bustling bars of Rio andSão Paulo.
The second disc, 'Para Dia/Day Time', represents the chilled, sun kissed vibes of Rio during the day. It's the waves crashing lazily on Flamingo beach and the best chillout tunes pouring from every bar. 'Para Dia' features legends such as John Digweed, Carl Cox, Greg Wilson and Claude Vonstrokewho each bring their individual style to the mix.
