Not Whining About “No Whine, Just Champagne”

Well, maybe I am whining a bit. I run a live chat group on Gather.com called No Whine, Just Champagne. We meet every Thursday at 9:00 pm ET for a live chat about writing. I have a few die hard members, but most of the original group has moved on to other activities. Some are still writing, but they don’t seem to have any interest in talking about it. Not that I blame them. I mean, after a while, what is there to say? You write or don’t. You try to better your craft or not. Either way, in the end

Irma Fritz Pat, when I started writing Irretrievably Broken I was part of a writers' workshop and had a similar experience. People seemed more interested in discussing friends and family and all their problems rather than how to improve their writing. After a while most stopped writing altogether. It's nice to have a community of writers to talk to, but perhaps it's just as well to put your behind in the chair and use that time for actual writing, rather than trying to talk about it with people who have other agendas.
Still, your group sounds interesting. Right now I have a Zumba class on Thursday evenings. (Great exercise and I come home totally drenched in sweat!) Maybe later this year!

Pat Bertram If you ever do get a chance, Irma, we'd love to have you stop by! I do keep the group focused on writing.
