Zuma's NPA Appointment Crisis
Since Vuzi Pikoli was fired in 2009 for so called incompetence, the position of Diretor of National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has always been a problem for President Jacob Zuma. Zuma appointed his "YES" man Menzi Simelane to replace Pikoli. Menzi Simelane's appointment was then found invalid by the Constitutional Court of South Africa, in October 2012. Simalene was then replaced by Mxolisi Nxasana in August 2013. Now controversy rocks the NPA once again as Mxolisi Nxasana has been refused security clearance for not disclosing that he had once killed a man. Nxasana has come under pressure following revelations that he allegedly did not disclose that: As an 18-year-old was tried and acquitted of murder; had been arrested for inconsiderate driving and resisting arrest; that he was fined by a law society; and tried to prevent an NPA unit from investigating him.
