Possibly nobody around here reads books on paper any more, but just in case there are potential readers who
do read paper books... Here is a public service announcement.
The printer,
Lulu.com, has recently lowered their base prices on physical books. What does that mean for our intrepid readers? It means we can now pass along the savings by lowering our prices accordingly.
As everyone knows, if they have read the fine-print and details on the
SROP site, our policy is to sell all of our physical books
at cost: no frills, no padding, no royalties. This policy was instituted partly because print-on-demand books are so expensive to start with; and partly because we are amateurs with day jobs, and are not trying to make money from readers. (And if we were depending on royalty income, we would have starved to death years ago.)
So when printing prices drop, SROP prices drop, as quickly as we can change things in the catalog. We started with our
green catalog and proceeded to the hush-hush
red catalog.
The prices of most books in the whole catalog have dropped around two dollars each. Many of the thicker, more expensive books have dropped by three dollars or more. These differences nearly offset the cost of postage, putting SROP paperback books within the price range of mass-production books you could purchase from a local store.
The
Smashed-Rat-on-Press spirit is alive and well.
When Lady Phoenix awakens, I'll make sure she sees the catalogue as we both love to hold an honest-to-Bebhionn printed book when we read. [Her Grace Ancrett just likes to gum them at present.]
Which reminds me, I need to go do some fiddling with my print versions ASAP [the leech recently told me I need to starve to death in order to be healthy].
Thank the Great Lady the kaffee is ready now -- I should never try to read with too much blood in my kaffeine-stream.
