Joseph – Governor (Part III)

greatnessGen 42:6 And Joseph was the governor over the land, and he it was that sold to all the people of the land: and Joseph’s brethren came, and bowed down themselves before him with their faces to the earth

In the previous study, we considered the different categories of power. The highest is spiritual power, the other is political and the least is economic power. The lower powers are subject to the highest powers, spiritual power being the highest. We can also move up and go higher. We need to operate at spiritual levels that permit us to challenge wickedness tormenting nations and devils behind evils in the land. But how do we go higher?

Luk 14:10 But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee. 11 For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

The secret of positioning for elevation by God is in humility. When we read Matthew 5, we see that all the attributes in the beatitudes – the poor in spirit, mourners,the meek, those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, the merciful, the pure in heart, the peacemakers, the persecuted all point to humility.

Humility is not poverty nor weakness. Humility is turning away from self and our wicked ways and being as nothing before God. It is time to humble yourself, to be quiet before God and be obedient to His leading. He will call you up to go higher and even higher. With spiritual power you can be on your knees and decree changes which will cause earthly kings to tremble and demonic plans to collapse. What a difference you will make in your family, marriage, church and the nations.

Jesus went down several steps till he ended in the grave … but He was raised to the highest levels. He did not just grab power – even though it was offered to Him by the people, He preferred to die, to come down even more. Christ did this because He knew God’s ways and principles for elevation. Jesus operated in the highest of spiritual realms. He spoke truths boldly and accepted His crucifixion like a meek lamb for the slaughter. Yet He was the mighty Lord of Hosts with innumerable angels waiting for His orders.

As they all bowed to Joseph. God will help us to reign over wickedness rather than have them reign over us.

Song.

At the Name of Jesus

Every knee shall bow,

Every tongue confess Him

King of glory now;

‘Tis the Father’s pleasure

We should call Him Lord,

Who from the beginning

Was the mighty Word.

Prayer: O Lord, teach me how to come up higher and higher every day. Amen
