Joseph – Governor (Part 11)

Gen 42:6 And Joseph was the governor over the land, and he it was that sold to all the people of the land: and Joseph’s brethren came, and bowed down themselves before him with their faces to the earth

There is another category of power, the highest category. This is spiritual power. We can have power with God operating from Heavenly places where we have been seated with Christ. This is the highest seat of power from which we challenge principalities and wicked powers, rulers over nations and villages and tribes and religious devilry. This category is the highest category of all. Indeed political and economic powers are subject to spiritual powers. If you find yourself still standing in spite of all that has come against you, it may be you have a reservoir of spiritual strength given by God that has not been allowed to fail. Do not laugh at those who have fallen, lest you lose the grace that kept you standing. All power including spiritual power belongs to God.

Jesus walked as the example of how we should walk in spiritual power. He did not judge by sight and mere human senses. He waited always on God, his Father. In the same way, we should wait always on the Holy Spirit. If we are seated with Christ, it means we have been already given the permission to operate at the highest but still we refuse to come up higher. God is inviting us to come up.

The brothers of Joseph and indeed all who came … bowed to Joseph – but we see this as only a political power. Indeed it released great wealth but we are told little of what was happening spiritually. Everything on the earth will bow to political power. But how about the things in the Heavens and under the earth. It should not surprise us that several years after Joseph died a Pharaoh arose which did not know him and erased his legacy. Power can also change hands. Politically and spiritually.

Php 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in Heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

Jesus is the model given to the Christian. We are to walk in spiritual power with Christ. Every knee includes sickness, poverty, enchantments, curses … they all must bow to the name of Jesus. The things in the Heavens and the worst of hell must all bow before Jesus. There is an appointed day in eternity where every knee will literally bow to Jesus at the gates of eternal judgment. I urge you to flee from teachings that suggest another name has been given to some for salvation — but the name of Jesus. When we operate in spiritual power, even the economic and the political must bow to the glory of Christ Jesus.

Song.

All power! All power belongs to God. (Chorus)

Prayer: O Lord, I am weak but thou art mighty – connect me again to your spiritual reservoir of great power and switch on the flow of current. Amen
