Legendary Seattle Punk’s The Funhouse - In ‘Razing The Bar’

Razing The Bar: A Documentary About Beloved Punk Live Music Venue The Funhousehttp://www.imdb.com/title/tt3286400/
“As with all things DIY, integrity is essential. The explicit endorsement of the Funhouse staff was a golden seal. And a sensible one—this is a self-made movie about a self-made venue that hosted self-made bands. More than that, it documents Seattle’s headlong rush into evolution and its equally powerful desire to maintain a legacy.”
—Jonathan Zwickel, City Arts Magazine RAZING THE BAR documents the development and eventual demolition of a well-loved fringe punk rock Seattle venue The Funhouse through interviews of employees, friends, and a multitude of local musicians. By going out on a limb and being uncompromising in his golden rule values, club owner Brian Foss cultivates a supportive and collaborative community where many marginalized and outcast performers can finally call home. When faced with the news that a developer is going to turn this punk outpost into a mixed-use condo development, the community struggles with the basis of urban gentrification, loss of employment and whether they’ll ever find the same sense of selfless support, unfettered creative inspiration and family in another location.
