We’re excited to announce that applications for our annual media spokesperson training are now open! The FREE training is for people with experiences in the sex trades who want to speak publicly – in mainstream and community produced media – about their experiences and offer their political perspective on issues that affect our communities. It takes place in Brooklyn, May 16-18. Join us!
I kind of can’t believe I have been leading these media trainings since 2009. I have joked before that the Speak Up! media training is like harm reduction for dealing with the media - but it totally is. Its an intensive workshop, with lots of practice, strategy, tips and tricks. Come learn the rules of the media game, when to break them and when to play along. This workshop is the only one we’re offering these days that works well for people from outside of NYC who can join us for a weekend. Oh, and its free! We can’t offer travel assistance money to get here, but can give you metrocards once you’re here, hook you up with housing, and feed you all weekend. Full info and app are here.
