We are currently accepting story pitches for Prose & Lore Issue 4 through February 17! We publish first person, true stories about experiences in the sex trades.

We want to hear your ideas for stories – no need to have a completed piece ready to go, just write briefly about what you want to write. We value interesting stories waaaay more than good grammar and spelling (that’s what editing is for), so tell us about a story you want to get out into the world and we’ll help you develop it. Accepted pitches will get paired with a mentor editor who will support you through the process of writing and revising your piece this spring.

Successful pitches are stories that are true and happened to you. We want stories, not essays about a theme. If there is a particular idea you want to write about, think about an example of this in your life and pitch a story about that.

Issue 4 will be published in print and ebook formats in July, with launch events/readings in NYC.

And if you’re in NYC and want to participate in our free, in person writing workshops, the deadline is the same. Info here.

I edit this journal and I would love to see your story ideas! I’m working hard to make the process of writing, revising, being edited and published as accessible as possible (because let’s be real, that shit is daunting). We’re in the pitch phase through Feb 17, which means you just have to send an idea for a piece. If you get accepted, I will pair you with someone who has been through the RedUP program in NYC and they will be a mentor/editor/accountability buddy for you for the next two months as you work on your story. Please reblog and tell any and all sex workers you know! Also if you know folks who don’t have frequent access to the internet but might want to write something, they can call us at 347-927-3867 and we will work it out.
