Chapter 59: Test of Courage
Taweel’s heart clenched when the patter of feet approached his hideaway’s entrance. A fair hand eased past the curtain, creating a gap. Brown eyes peeped through … and widened. A matching set peered in much closer to the floor, and Taweel sighed. Young warriors liked tests of courage.
Omri spotted their intruders and rushed at them, squeaking furiously.
A yelp. A scramble. A thud. And Weft giggling through it all.
Taweel intoned, “This victory belongs to Omri. May you fare better in your next match.”
This time, three boys poked their heads around the corner. Weft and his newfoundling friends.
