The Week’s Accumulation lxxiv
This was one of those relaxing, mostly-unplugged weeks because my folks were visiting from Minnesota. They enjoyed a break from winter weather, and we found plenty of ways to have fun. Card games and board games. Outings and in-house competitions. I have some snapshots from the week to share … and a surprise cover reveal for Angels on Guard! You’re gonna want to see this! ; )
This week’s accumulation:
♦ We did the tourist thing a few days ago and brought my folks to see Pacific Beach. There’s nothing quite like a look at the ocean. We poked around in tourist shops and walked out on the pier. I left with a few new ideas tucked into the corner of my brain for future storytelling. : )
Me and my lot. (Jayce & Naomi Pomeroy aren’t
the only ones with their hands full!)
♦ We have a family tradition. Every time my parents visit, we do an ‘Iron Chef’ style cooking competition. Participants draw time slots. The secret ingredient’s announced. Everyone raids my cookbook collection or searches online recipe databases. We plot. We shop. We cook. And we bestow a much-coveted plastic trophy on the person who concocts the most delectable dish.
This time around, the Kinde family was embroiled in Battle Apple. (Yep, the upcoming release of Book 4 in the Threshold Series had something to do with that selection!) And all day yesterday, we ate well. Caramel Apple Cinnamon Rolls. Sausage and Apple Breakfast Sandwiches with Apple Grins. Apple Strudel with Pecans and Raisins. Oatmeal Apple Muffins served with Sliced Apples, Hot Caramel Dipping Sauce, and Spiced Apple Juice. Apple-stuffed Chicken Roulade. Apple Pizza. And finally, an Apple Cream Crepe Cake.
The Apple Pizza earned this year’s bragging rights with its layers of spiced cream cheese, caramel apples, and crunchy crumb topping.
♦ As we near the release date for The Garden Gate, let’s do a quick countdown recap:
Back Cover Reveal!
Abner & Chapter 2 excerpt
Ransom & Prissie sketch!
Happy Birthday, Miss Priss!
I was impressed by how many of you tackled the challenge to find those yellow envelopes scattered across the website. The game will stay in place for future readers, but the new art you uncovered will gradually be added to the appropriate galleries. Thank you for playing along and for your birthday wishes for Miss Priss! ✿
♦ As expected, I received some boxes this week! With brand new books on hand, I’m making five more review copies available. What’s that mean? I’ll send you a signed copy of The Garden Gate, and in return, you’ll post an honest review to all the usual sites (Amazon, GoodReads, B&N, YABCentral, etc). If you’re interested in helping to spread the word about the Threshold Series, contact me! christa [dot] kinde [at] gmail [dot] com.
♦ The last I heard, my third free illustrated shot story was due out in February, but according to my publisher, they’re hoping to unveil “Angels on Guard” next week! That calls for a cover reveal. Here’s your first look:
Guardian angels must guard their hearts, or they’ll be tempted to Fall.
Story Summary: Even after three years, Prissie Pomeroy’s guardian angel only understood part of what it meant to watch over one precious life. The rest he learned on the day he almost lost her. In this companion story to the Threshold Series, scars are bared, fears begin and end, and angels fall.
I’ll let you know as soon as “Angels on Guard” becomes available! In the meantime, you can enjoy these other free tales:
So what’s cluttering up your desktop? Do tell!
