Chapter 54: Teach the Curious


Taweel sat next to his little mentor, watching him work. “Are those letters?”


No,” Weft giggled.


“But there’s meaning to the patterns,” Loris clarified. “Teach the curious, child.”


So the young Weaver narrated his stitching, unraveling one of heaven’s little mysteries. Taweel was impressed enough to ask for more details. Weft cheerfully deciphered the embroidery on his own sleeve, then on Loris’s pant-cuff. Row on row, their stories unfolded.


“We’ll need to dye more bronze thread,” Loris casually remarked. “A Caretaker recently arrived with twelve youngsters.”


“New angels?” Weft asked eagerly.


“So new, they still have stardust between their toes!”
