the other night at the firehouse, when i finished playing luciano chessa’s piece for video and barefoot pianist, “tomboy,” the lights stayed off. instead of waiting or asking someone to turn them on, i decided to play the final piece of the program, philip glass’s “two pages,” in the dark, and this is what it sounded like.
