L. J. Smith’s new Vampires Diaries series
I’m very pleased to finally be able to make this announcement. I apologize for having kept all of you waiting so long, but getting everything finalized took longer than I initially thought it would. As some of you probably know, Amazon has launched a new area called Kindle Worlds. This is a place where people can write fan fictions based on certain books, movies, shows, games, and music. The Vampire Diaries is one of the series that Amazon has obtained the license to include in their Worlds. This means that I can continue to write my version of The Vampire Diaries. (Remember, these books are written as fan fiction and are not part of the official series.)
The Evensong arc will pick up more or less where Midnight left off and takes place in an alternate world from the official books that follow Midnight. The three books in this arc are Paradise Lost, The War of Roses, and Into the Wood. The first novel, Paradise Lost, and the first part of the second novel, The War of Roses, will be available
January 23, 2014.

Also available on January 23, 2014 is my new bibliography/booklist, which is much easier to I understand (I think; most of the actual work was done by the invaluable Christina Crowley) than the old versions.
I’m dedicating these new Kindle Worlds books to my readers, worldwide. Thank you, friends, for your many messages of kindness and appreciation. I would also like to thank Amazon for all its enthusiasm and consideration in publicizing this new series. Amazon, you rock!

This is fantastic news. I never read the ghostwritten ones, as it seemed rather pointless to me. I am delighted that you will get to share your vision for the series and I can't wait to read them!

Yesssssssssssssss !!!!! Im so excited .... As you can probably tell from the yes-ing lol ! I've only recently discovered the Vampire Diaries books , and have been completely addicted . If there's such a thing as VD addiction .. I've got it, and I'm not in denial ;). Well seeing as I'm not aware of a rehab for VD addicts I'm going to just go ahead and fuel my addiction by diving in to these new books . Your a fabulous writer and the books written after Midnight, although good, were not a scratch on yours !! I will never personally understand why they stopped you from writing the other books . It was criminal in my mind , as you created the Vampire Diaries - not them !! I am soooo excited about reading where you would of taken the characters, if you had of written the rest of the Vampie Diaries series. Hip hip horray to Amazon, for letting you do so - they are very smart in deed :D It's going to be a best seller - I just know it !!

And I refused to read the ones that were not written by you, as many of your other fans did, to show our support and loyalty to you! I only started reading the books last year and I'm only on Nightfall so far...but oh my goodness, this is fantastic news! I'm sure that we're all going to take your work as canon, not the ghostwriter's. That can just be the fanfiction. ;)

While I'm glad to see something other than the blasphemy that is the TV show, I'd be even MORE happy to hear some thing (anything) about Strange Fate!!!

i have an android, and i can download the kindle app... but i prefer printed books!but i love love love the Vampire Diaries series. part of what got me into vampires. :)

I have been waiting for book 10 in your Night World series for 6 years now it says 2030WOW ! Cant the publisher print faster than that I know the book is finished!
