The Hypocrisy of U.S. Democracy and Foreign Policy

The Hypocrisy of U.S. Democracy and Foreign Policy

The United States likes to praise democracy globally, but when it comes to economic interests in the Middle East (cheap oil to fuel the American economy, sustain low food prices, and keep the SUVs running on our highways) American Presidents continue to bow to Saudi kings and the royal family before standing up for human rights and democracy.

If the Americans did not need Middle East oil, US Presidents could stop bowing down to Saudi kings and giving the Saudi royal family (which allows Wahhabi Islam to oppress their people) arms, weapons and military protection.

It is immoral, unethical and not democratic for the U.S. to support Arab dictators for oil; but good economics if you all you are concerned about is your economy and not the oppressed in the oil rich states from whom you benefit (by reason of their oppressive internal policies).
