What matters and what doesn't

I'm not a famous author, but I do have a group of fans. I appreciate them. They're who matter - they mattered when there were 5; they matter now when there 5 thousand (or so), and they'll matter if there are 5 million someday. How many of them there are, does not affect how important each one is.

There's also a group of author friends around me who are genuinely nice and know that my books doing well doesn't stop their books from doing well. I appreciate them too. They are who matter. They'll matter if they sell 5 books in a month or 5 million. How popular they are does not affect who they are as human beings.

You know what doesn't matter? Size. Just sayin'
