How to be Confident Despite Self-Doubt
How do you put yourself in the running for a promotion when you don't feel completely confident that you can do it? To answer the question, let’s take a look at the inner contradictions that hold us back from being confident and seeing possibilities.
Take a moment and ask yourself, “What are some of the inner contradictory beliefs that cause me to doubt myself?” For instance, you might worry that you don’t have enough knowledge for the new position, though on a deeper level, you know that isn’t true. Make a list of past successes to negate the critical beliefs with real life evidence.
What you will realize is that successes outweigh failures and yet the failures stick out as a sore thumb.
When you take the time to appreciate failures as learning opportunities and realize that the negative mind-talk isn’t true, the limiting beliefs will have less hold on you.
Confidence comes naturally when you manage your thoughts and the opposite is true when the thoughts manage you. Through self-regulation, self-judgment drops and a positive mindset arises, energizing you and encouraging you to take the necessary actions towards the promotion.
