NaNoWriMo Contest Deadline Extended to Dec. 15th
Riverdale Avenue Books Extends the Deadline for NaNoWriMo Contest
Riverdale, NY – December 1, 2013 – Innovative New York publisher Riverdale Avenue Books has extended the deadline to December 15th for their first annual NaNoWriMo publishing contest, with a chance to win a book contract.
“One of our prospective contestants wrote me a note explaining that she would have to miss the deadline this year because she was working retail all through the Thanksgiving weekend,” explained Lori Perkins, Publisher of Riverdale Avenue Books. “I was so inspired by this writer’s passion to juggle her work and her writing that I realized we needed to extend the deadline. No one should have to choose between paying the bills and following their dreams.”
NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) is a month to encourage aspiring writers to begin the novel they have always wanted to write. Participants start writing their 50,000 word novel at midnight on November 1st and they have the whole month of November to complete it. “I see the people who participate in NaNoWriMo as artists and athletes, and I know that the work that is produced becomes some of our cultures' best and brightest,” said Perkins. “I want to give those writers an opportunity to share their best work, and I'm a big believer in immediate gratification, so publication within 12 months should be a nice carrot on the stick."
Submit your 50,000-80,000 word novel in the genres of erotica, erotic romance, horror, science fiction, fantasy, and LGBT fiction to Riverdale Avenue Books by December 15th, 2013 for consideration. Riverdale Avenue Books’ team of editors will evaluate the submissions and choose first place winners, as well as honorable mentions, from each genre for publication by Riverdale Avenue Books.
Winners will be notified by email by February 1, 2014. Each book chosen will be eligible for standard contract terms, including publication as both print and ebook. The winning books will be published in 2014.
Please submit completed novels in a word document format with a brief author bio and book synopsis to submissions@riverdaleavebooks.com.

I am thrilled to have published Ethan Mordden’s Passionate Attention of an Interesting Man. Ethan’s story collections Buddies and Everybody Loves You were books I read while coming out, their distinctive Stonewall Inn Editions logo on the spine announcing “gay fiction!” to anyone in the know.
Passionate Attention is a clever, fun, sexy read featuring a brand new novella and four stories. While not quite erotica, it’s still hot!—or as Ethan describes it, “Every one of the stories deals with the relationship of a dominant and submissive male, the daddy and his ‘boy,’ the top man and the vassal.”
In one of my favorite passages, a character says, “Jutter Flexx was not a porn star. He had done some modeling for Colt, and he did become one of their most exploited figures, with his own calendar. In the gay world, this is like being elected President of France.” How can I not love a brilliant line like that?
