Reading Week!

Teen Read Week goes from Oct 13 – 19. Are you ready? Whether you’re a teen or not, here are five things you can do this week:

content_TeensTopTen_logo-_-yalsa_logo_330_right_1

1. Read. Well…duh, right?

2. Recommend a favorite book to your friend. If you’re encouraging others to read a great book, then peer pressure is great!

3. Go to the library, especially if your library is participating in the event.

4. Talk to your English teacher about Teen Read Week. Spread awareness!

5. Go HERE and vote for your favorite book off the list. (If The False Prince happens to be that book, then great, please vote – but there are other amazing ones too). And yes, in response to a question I’ve been asked a few times, you can vote more than once. The winners will be announced on October 22nd. To those who have already voted, thank you!

Also, in a completely unrelated thread, I’ve got a few emails asking what I’m doing right now. Here’s the answer: I’ve been traveling a lot, to Houston, Boise, and Denver in the last couple of weeks alone, and next month I will also be in Los Angeles and Boston (though there may not be any public events). I also recently got back from Rome where I did research for my next series.

The picture to your left is one I took from on top of the Colosseum looking down onto the Roman Forum – the center of all life in Ancient Rome. It may not look like much now, but two thousand years ago, this place was rockin’!

I’m now writing that new series, The Praetor War, with an escaped slave, stolen magic, and a fight to stop the fall of Ancient Rome. I’m about 20,000 words into my first draft.

The Shadow Throne - Front Cover

My next book to release is Infinity Ring 6: Behind Enemy Lines (more about that soon). The third book of the Ascendance Trilogy, The Shadow Throne, will release on February 25, 2014. Pre-order now from your favorite local bookstore.

There’s no movie news. Sorry. Also, there’s nothing yet I can tell you about The Shadow Throne.

And yes, I will have advance copies of The Shadow Throne available in December. There will be a giveaway contest on this blog. If you want a chance for a copy, be sure to check in then!

Thank you all for reading, following the blog, and for contacting me either via comments here, Facebook, email, or with snail mail. I appreciate you very much!

Sounds great! I've got a question for you, Jennifer. I run a large YA group (1,800 members) here on Goodreads, and we have an author Q&A program where we feature bestselling authors, like yourself, that have a lot of fans in the group. A few of the other authors on our schedule are Marissa Meyer, Neal Shusterman, Hugh Howey, Ilsa Bick, and Barry Lyga. As you have many fans in the group, we'd love to extend the same invitation to you. Essentially it's a week long Q&A where members can pop in and post questions, which I then summarize for you, and you can answer at your leisure and as time permits. Typically you can expect 20-30 questions over the course of the week. It's not a significant time commitment, but the fans seem to love it. We would also have one of your books as one of our Books of the Month while you're participating, to try to encourage other members of the group to become new fans of yours.

No pressure, of course (I'll still love your books either way!), but if you're interested, let me know and I'll send you a Goodreads message to work out the date that works for you. We currently have a week available in November, as well as one in December. Or, if you prefer, we could schedule it further out, around the time of one of your book releases. Whatever works for you :) Thanks for your consideration and all the best!

Ellie, the nature of the war is described in the last scene from The Runaway King. Avenia is definitely involved!

WhyNN ~ Hi, Jennifer

And the truth is now I love this book >.<

message 20: by David (new)

gotcha...What about the pirates??????????

message 24: by Ellie (last edited Oct 18, 2013 02:45PM) (new)

Ellie S U know im hanging about the pirates!!! r they really gonna help out Carthya. that is very questionable, even
though Roden is leading them. Roden can still turn around and just have that hatred for mr.prince. like the killing hatred. These characters r sooo questionable it is confusing!

there's so many fans in here... we even talking about it when we know that this book come out...
is your giveaway will be international giveaway?

David wrote: "Yay! Another fan :)"

hahaha...yes..i'm a fan. when the original book came out (any books) i really want to buy them as soon as i can. but when it come to the tax and shipping, sometime i have to pay more than the the book's price..you know, goverment policy and the price of one book will be double or even triple than the original price...i really hate that

thats why i usually be a-late-fan because the process, translating them is usually take time most..as you know. we don't speak english here because we have our own language. but it's okay... it's never too late to read a book... :))

Erick leads the Avenian pirates now, but he is not their king. So there is a question of who they will follow in a war. Hmm...??

message 27: by Ellie (new)

Ellie S OHHHHH forgot about that part. i probaly need to read the book again so i can catch up. though,Avenia bribes the pirates, which is tempting-especially if your a pirate. But it seems like(correct me if im wrong) the pirates have jaren's loyalty. well, do u think the pirates might make eric their leader. well,do pirates even have a democracey??

Ellie, no, the pirates don't have a democracy, but that doesn't mean they have to accept their leader, or their king. We'll see in book 3. War is coming...

message 29: by Ellie (new)

Ellie S Honestly if they had a democracy they would be civilized. How intresting. So, they can just reject him?

They can challenge their leader. The one who dies, loses leadership.

message 31: by Ellie (new)

Ellie S Interesting. ARR. I challenge you!!!!
