Hi Everyone,
I am so very close to finishing this Egyptian book so I wanted to do one more teaser for you before I turn it in and it goes through edits.
Here it is...
I heard a hiss like bubbling ocean foam washing across the sand. A movement above me caught my eye. Through the shimmering dome overhead, the stars burned brighter than I’d ever seen before which shouldn’t have been possible since we were so close to a major city. They pulsed brilliantly and the familiar constellations seemed to be almost close enough for me to touch. The more distant stars appeared closer as well, and as I gazed overhead, I felt as if my body was weightless, like I could float upward into the night and become lost in the universe.
Somehow I was able to see the colors of the stars with my naked eye which I knew was impossible. Nearby planets were suddenly visible. I could make out the rings of Saturn, a binary star, and a distant galaxy, and then, the world shifted. The stars fell. Here is an image that inspired the scene that is on my secret Pinterest page.

My sister in law, Suki, has created an Egyptian themed prize to go along with this book. Follow the directions below for a chance to win!
The prize this week goes to one random winner from the comments of this blog post. The prize pack contains a beautiful blue necklace, a gold (colored, not real gold!) bracelet cuff, and copper eyeliner. This all screamed Egyptian to me and I couldn't pass them up to give to one of you!
(Okay, I'm actually not sure why this photo is sideways.... so I might delete the picture unless I can figure it out!)
Pretty! Good luck!

Mom Phrases
I have a new mom phrase this week.
Cooked your own goose-I found two origins of this phrase. One was about a Swedish king who retaliated against his rebellious people and ended up destroying a city, his favorite goose along with it. The answer I like better is that a person becomes so desperate that they must cook their goose and feast on its meat in order to survive. This results in not only having no goose eggs to eat in the future but there will also not be any more goslings to replenish the flock. In essence, you've made a choice that will lead to your own destruction.

Hope you all have a great week! Happy back to school too!
