A summer that never seemed to start has been turning into a summer that feels like it will never end, children going back to school the only sign that September is here. I don't mind wrapping up in winter and if we had known that glorious sunshine lay ahead eventually, we would not have complained about the winter, would have planted tomatoes, bought a boat, planned a walking holiday...
For writers like me who like to scribble on paper first, or those who have any of the lightweight electronic rectangular devices with screens, to write outside in the garden, park or pavement cafe is a pleasure.
But when it does rain at least valuable writng time won't be wasted watering the garden and we can get on with editing and printing that manuscript that needs proof reading.
