In the peaceful setting of Christchurch Priory in Dorset I was able to watch exiled Tibetan monks completing the Mandala, sacred art created over several days, using millions of grains of coloured sand. Patience and skill few of us could possess, designs and colours painters and embroiders alike would envy. The next day the Mandala would be destroyed, as the monks 'live in the moment',very different from we writers who preserve our words in as many forms as possible.
