1. What genre of books do you prefer?
I like all kinds! But here are the ones I find myself reading most:
-1970/80s potboilers
-space opera
-bodice-rippers
-gothic novels
-forensic mysteries
-pop science
-classic literature
-historical fiction
-family sagas
-(good) erotica, preferably fucked-up
-foreign literature
-vintage/retro romances
2. What are some of the must-have books in your library?
Right now I'm reading Master of the Game by Sidney Sheldon. I like it a lot. It might end up a permanent resident of my library. Also included are Fire and Hemlock by Diana Wynne Jones, The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle, White Oleander by Janet Fitch, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, and Ready Player One by Ernest Cline.
3. What is the most expensive book on your shelf?
I have a lot of out-of-print novels, some in hard cover. One was a first American edition of Neuromancer.
4. What book do you covet the most?
Check out my yes-i-need-it-dammit shelf. ;)
5. How much do you spend on books?
I drop about $10-$30 every time I go to the used bookstore. They are so cheap. It is horrible. I can't go there anymore. Not until I read the books I have. (I keep saying that, but...)
6. What do you think about the current trend in YA books?
Fifty Shades of Grey rip-offs and Beautiful Disaster rip-offs need to go somewhere quiet and die.
7. What series do you wish had more books?
I wish there was a sequel to Gone with the Wind written by that author, with extended love scene between Rhett and Scarlett. :D
8. What are your go-to books in your library?
I like to read literature, and then take breaks by reading smutty vintage bodice-ripper porn. It is like candy for my brain. :D
9. What book is currently in your bag?
Master of the Game by Sidney Sheldon.
10. What is the most prized book in your collection?
Probably my mother's collection of LoTR and Oz books from her childhood which she gave to me.
11. What are some non-fiction books on your shelf?
I have one about this dude who drove around Einstein's brain, an autobiography written by a slave during the Civil War (or possibly antebellum), a book about the history of the Supreme Court, a book about the science of sleep, a book about neuroscience and emotion, and volumes I and II of Persepolis.
12. Favorite authors? (name up to 3)
Vivian Vande Velde, Linnea Sinclair, Victoria Holt. That's just the tip of the iceberg though.
13. Favorite bookstore?
The one in the library. >:}
The term “bodice ripper” still makes me giggle like an idiot.
