Sunday Update: Feeling Good, Making Progress

I'm glad I made the choice to reduce my word count goal to 2,000 words a week for the summer. Several weeks I've beaten that mark. While it is a cheap trick, somehow 4,000 words a week feel AMAZING when my goal is 2,000, and only so-so when my goal is 3,500. You know? So here's to embracing a cheap trick or two. (Don't tell your mother I said that. Ha! Er…sorry. I have a raunchy sense of humor sometimes.)

I also think I'm enjoying my summer more having given myself a mental break about production. The writing gig is a marathon, a life-long journey, and I need to enjoy my life, too. :)

I already told you about Monday's word count of 1,900. That was super! Here's how I did the rest of the week:

Thursday - 900
Friday - 800
Saturday - 750

That puts my word count for the week at 4,350 -- more than twice my summer minimum goal of 2,000 words a week. Yay!

I've reached the three-quarter mark in this book, and now there's a ton of action to fit in before I wrap it up. Double yay! I have about 15,000 left to write. I'm not going to pressure myself about finishing FAST, but the way I've felt the last few days, it might not take much longer.

I've also made a touch of progress editing/revising Descent, the next novella in my Children of the Sidhe series. Feeling good on that front. I'd love to finish my revision by mid-August and get this puppy in my editor's hands. That's three weeks out, so I'll put the hustle on my paper revision this week. I'll still need to make all of the changes (and the additional revisions that inevitably ensue) in the electronic manuscript.

I didn't read every day this week. I'm about to pick up a Carrie Vaughn book -- Kitty Rocks the House, about Kitty the werewolf (the best urban fantasy series EVER) -- and I usually fly through those. We'll see if I'm brave enough to pick it up this week and get carried away.

Have a great week!
