Turn of the Tide

I recently discovered a novel by Margaret Skea, Turn of the Tide, set in 16th century Scotland. It has been nominated for the People’s Book Prize, and the website enables interested readers to access the first two chapters of the book. Here is the link. http://www.peoplesbookprize.com/book.... You can also order it at that site or on Amazon and Amazon.com.UK, if you decide you’d like to read it. I found the first two chapters very suspenseful and I wanted to know more, so I added it to my Kindle. Sadly, my TBR list now resembles the Leaning Tower of Pisa, but it is comforting to know I’ll never run out of books I want to read. I know that you all share my passion for the past, so I wanted to call Turn of the Tide to your attention. If you like what you read, you can register and vote for it, but that is not necessary to access the chapters.

Gin Tadvick I see you've adopted my expression in regards to the TBR list!!! Mine has worsened and thanks to your good works will now be amended further. Is it my fault if my Kindle crashes??? Is it my fault if my bookcases groan and books now seek their own new heights in their attempt to reach the ceiling! No, it is because there are so many good books and so little time!!! Thanks for the recommendation!

Ernestina Sharon and Gin, I have an advice for your leaning towers: they succeded in giving stability (at least for the next three hundred years) to the real one using some counterweights, you could try with some books! I did it and now my tower is becoming a fortress!

By the way your advices are always welcome: I took some of them and now I'm reading The White Hawk (I've already read a book by Margaret Frazer), so thank you.

Sharon I once saw a bumper sticker that said, "So many books, so little time." That could definitely be the motto for all of us.

Ernestina I saw this quote too, and I agree, I wish I had more time to read although I know it would never be enough: for every book I read, I buy al least three more of them.

Gin Tadvick I used to have the "one in - one out" philosophy because I swap books. That definitely made it easy to delude myself that the books were not taking over. Then I purchased a Kindle - which I overloaded with Audio books (besides other classics that were FREE) so I purchased a Kindle Fire (note - not HD) so that I could delude myself further. What can I say? Books rule!
