Prospective Journal: After the Fall, Angels Are Kind of Dicks Received

“A poet, an author, and an Angel walk into a bar.  The poet orders a cappuccino, the author a scotch, and the Angel smites them.”  So begins Editor Lauren Stone’s back cover blurb on the latest quarterly PROSPECTIVE:  A JOURNAL OF SPECULATION mini-anthology AFTER THE FALL, ANGELS ARE KIND OF DICKS, which arrived in yesterday afternoon’s mail.  While most of my publications in this one have been poetry, this time I’m represented by a piece of flash fiction, the 900-word “The Left Behinds” (cf. May 21), detailing the adventures during the Biblical End Times — that is to say, as described in the Book of Revelation — of three off-and-on friends, one who thought he should have been taken up in the Rapture (and never mind that that idea is not in the Bible), one who was no better than she ought to be, and one who had frittered away his life watching horror movies.  So guess which one is the best prepared. . . .
