Intro to blogging, Book 2 News, and Benedict Cumberbatch
Publishing my book is an exciting process for me. After years of writing and toying around with the idea of trying to get published, I decided to bite the bullet and just self publish. It seems the way to go these days, and I honestly didn't want to go through the headache of trying to get a publisher/agent interested in my work. I tried a few years back to go the traditional route with a historical romance I wrote. I got a few nibbles, but no bites from the many queries I sent out. Perhaps if I had persevered ... But alas, I just couldn't invest the emotional energy. I got discouraged and distracted by LIFE!!!
When I heard about self publishing a few months ago, I got really excited. I could just throw my work out there and see what happens without agonizing about rejection, or waiting around to hear back from the powers that be! Plus, self publishing allows me to retain control over every aspect of this process. The only tough part has been trying to self promote. I'm still trying to get the hang of that and build a following. Perhaps one day soon a publisher will pick up my work (hint hint) but right now I'm more than happy to do it my way.
My free giveaway on Amazon just ended last Friday, and over 2600 people downloaded my steampunk romance. I have started getting some response to my work, which is really exciting! I'm up to 5 reviews, so thanks! And keep them coming! I need all the help I can get.
Lots of people (well, two or three) have expressed their impatience over the sequel, which I'm in the midst of writing. I plan on posting the Prologue to book two very soon to give a taste of what's coming. Hopefully I'll have the whole book finished in August. I've been wanting to write Inspector Drexler's story for years now, and I finally have the impetus to get it done! I'm super excited about having a vampire as a hero, and it's looking like this story's going to be a lot darker than the first book.
Now if I can just focus! I keep getting distracted by Pinterest. And finishing Game of Thrones series 3. And Benedict Cumberbatch's cheek bones.
