I was born on the 13th November 1989. That means my birthday is on the 13th of November every year. For a specific reason, when it comes to celebrating my own birthday, I am not that motivated.

I don’t feel sad if people don’t wish me happy birthday. I’ve never hoped for people to give me birthday gifts. I will temporarily disable my Facebook Timeline so that people won’t post any birthday wishes on my wall.

The most I would do on my birthday is treating my own self at any expensive fast-food restaurant.  Nothing more nothing less.

The reason is because of Ramadan.

Ramadan Revolution

The quote “Life begins at the end of your comfort zone” can be further explained that “Life will start if and only if our comfort zone is behind us.” If we are still cozy in our warm blankets sleeping, we are not living.

Life should be made an inevitable revolution. Each minute is a minute to reform and to transform into a better person.

What happens during a country’s revolution? There will be series of demonstrations by thousands of millions of people along the streets. People who are with the revolution will make unimaginable sacrifices from their usual everyday boring life to persuade their government in fulfilling their demands.

Ramadan too is a time for revolution, revolution of what? Revolution of the self.

Ramadan is a time to turn to Allah, a time to focus on building your spirituality so that it may last for the remaining 11 months.

Ramadan is a flea market for spiritual shopping

People come to flea markets usually because the item sold there are high quality with low prices. But people wait for Ramadan because Ramadan sells high quality spiritual items free of charge.

Each place you go during Ramadan, you will feel the warmth of Islam and Iman warming your souls.

People during Ramadan are naturally transformed to be better. Before Ramadan waking up for Subh is difficult but during Ramadan it’ll be a piece of cake. Before Ramadan, performing qiamullail is impossible but during Ramadan standing for 20 rakaats of Tarawikh is made possible. Rich-greedy people before Ramadan only keep his wealth with himself but during Ramadan they sponsor Sahur and Iftar for a month.

This is what Ramadan has been doing to us all these years.

Conclusion

The only obstruction between me and Ramadan is the day of Tuesday. My life only begins with Ramadan. Before Ramadan I’m dead. This Ramadan will be my 24th Ramadan.

That will be marked in my calendar as my 24th birthday.
