What About Nik Wallenda? ...from the 'What About Series' [Post 3]

(Picture of Nik and his father are from Nik Wallenda's facebook page.)
First of all, great job, congratulations! Nik Wallenda walked 1400 feet on a cable stretched across the Grand Canyon and for those who didn't get to see it, he praised Jesus during most of that walk.
So, just for fun I was scanning the internet after Nik Wallenda’s walk last night. So many comments, and of course, it became fodder, as always, to spout some kind of political mumbo jumbo. So, here is some of what I saw. (Disclaimer: The ‘I read’ parts are not exact quotes and some have been changed due to the graphic nature of the comment.)
I read something like - “Some people have called him a hero. He’s not a hero. It’s our soldiers and firefighters that are heroes.”
I said - Hmm, haven't seen anyone call him a hero, (but I was later told they were all over Twitter proclaiming him a hero.)  On Facebook, I have seen a few call him a stupid idiot... but I think that's just because he made them nervous. For me, what he did was way intense and I'm glad he made it, but he's not my hero.
I gotta say this... he's got bigger cahones that I do. Well, I'm a female, but you know what I mean, lol!
He didn't just talk it, he walked it, literally! Do you realize what it took for him to take those first few steps? There was no turning back. He said he would do it and he did. Does this make him a hero? Well, not in my book. And I hope it doesn’t take away from the real heroes, men and women who are strong and proud and brave and do a job I know I couldn’t do. But maybe it was the proclaiming of Wallenda's faith unashamedly in front of the world that have made people call him a hero?
I read - “I bet a bunch of atheists and non-Christians are hoping he falls since he’s praising Jesus  with every step. They’ll hate him just like they hate Tim Tebow.”    I say - Unfortunately, that is probably true. And I’m so glad he didn't fall! I have no idea what hand God or Jesus had in this activity, but I love the faith Nik Wallenda showed .... and the trust. A victory against those who wished otherwise... I’ll take it!
I read - “There are a lot more important things happening in the world than some crazy guy who wants to pull a crazy stunt and get all the sheeples to watch him.”
I say - His walk is not the most important thing that's happened this week but maybe we needed a relief from all the serious stuff going on.  There are many very awake people who sometimes just need to sit back and channel surf and take their minds off all the bad stuff. And I gotta say, this guy isn’t nearly as crazy as some of the people topping the news stories lately. It is a shame people have to defend their every action from those who constantly criticize. Maybe we should take a break from THAT!
I read - “So glad I was flipping through the channels and saw this and heard what he was saying as he walked.” and... “Was really glad to hear his faith” and... “Nice to truly hear someone profess their faith.”
I say - I absolutely agree and I am not what you would call religious, though I am quite spiritual. Still, I loved hearing his prayer as he walked, for indeed, to me, it seemed like a prayer.
All in all, I say congratulations to the Wallenda family. I could feel the relief of his wife and kids and I know they are glad it’s over....until he gets up this morning and says, “Hon, what about crossing the ____?” :) Peaceout.
