Double-Lemon Cream Cheese Thumbprint Cookies

I'm a big citrus fan, and summer says lemonade to me. Or in this case, lemon cookies. This is a variation on a recipe that's a favorite of mine, and I like the light flavor and taste of these thumbprint cookies.
Double-Lemon Cream Cheese Thumbprint Cookies
Ingredients
1/2 cup butter, softened1 3oz package cream cheese, softened1 cup sugar1 tablespoon milk1 teaspoon lemon extract1 1/4 cups flour1 tsp lemon zest1 small can lemon pie filling
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 350 F (176 c), grease 2 baking sheetsBeat together cream cheese and butter at medium speedBeat in sugar, milk, lemon, and lemon zestBeat in flour, 1/4 cup at a time until blended.
Drop rounded tablespoonfuls onto greased baking sheets, 2 inches apart.Using a rounded tablespoon or your thump, create an indentation in the middle of each cookieDrop 1 tsp lemon pie filling into the center of each cookieBake cookies about 10 minutes, until set and golden.
Makes about 3 dozen cookies
