Diminished Wealth

Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.
Proverbs 13:11

All men worry about their retirement nest egg. Will it be enough? Will it last? Some become so obsessed that their daily demeanor is dependent upon the rise and fall of their portfolio. However, Solomon offers wise advice long before the stock market was invented. He warns of diminished wealth when it is obtained by fruitless desire or trifling labor (vanity) vice actual labor. In others words, you are rewarded for your hard work.
Shouldn’t efforts for our Father be the same? Instead of worrying about our reward, we should be focused on the task at hand. It is only through our hard work that we are able to show the love of Christ to others. So the next time you start to worry, financially or spiritually, look around you. I am sure there is someone who will benefit from your efforts of showing our Father’s love to them. You will feel better and so will they!
