Great blog post! I love The Stand, too, although I agree it's often hard to pick a favorite King book. Delores Claiborne comes to mind...I got to hang out all summer with Mel Gibson and Sissy Spacek on a movie set in East TN back in the early 80s when they were filming The River (awful movie!) just outside my hometown, and I was a fledgling newspaper reporter at 19. Great summer!

Well, as you can see, I'm not above reaching out just to say hi, but I'm not much of a fanboy for anybody. Celebrities are people, and some are great and some not so much. But if I'm presented with an easy handshake opportunity like with King, I'll take it! ;)

Sure thing. ;) Agreed, celebrities are still people, and some of them are really awesome people on top of that. People I'd love to have as friends for their brilliant minds. :D

I could have been an extra in a Val Kilmer movie called Twixt. It was filmed in the place I am living currently. At the time though I was living a town over and I had gotten the flu and never got to head that way. Lots of people met him that I know though. Apparently he's a very nice guy. Kind of depressing that I didn't meet him because he was awesome in Willow.
I don't recognize a lot of authors because what they look like doesn't really matter to me...I guess it might be cool to meet some writers but...At the same time I rather just admire the writing you know? Sometimes when one meets and idol, their entire idea of them changes due to circumstances that occur during the meeting. I'd hate for my ideas of someone to change based on meeting them in person and finding out they aren't so wonderful as a person, regardless of how amazing they write. This is also why I never read about them in the press, because though the press is often inaccurate, some of it is legitimate and may ruin a series I'm reading due to my dislike of how the author treats other people for example.
