With so many books out there, how can readers sort out good reads from bad?

You know that feeling when you finish a really good book? The one where you wish you could forget it and enjoy the experience of reading it over and over again? If your book is that good and if you aren’t able to let people know about it, that means you’ve denied so many people profound enjoyment that they’re continually seeking and that is not so easy to find.

There are so many books vying for attention now that self-publishing has become so easy that everyone who ever thought they had a book in them has made sure they’ve got one! And the fact that there’s no place to go where a reader can really sort out the wheat from the chaff, means authors with really good reads get lost in the crowd. It’s all together possible, these days, for a really good, gripping read that would illicit the buzz of a Harry Potter or a Fifty Shades of Grey , to remain buried until after the author is stone cold dead or even for ever.

So with this in mind, I’m thinking that with my book, The Prince of Naples , I’m going to have to think outside the box. I know the book is so good. It’s been compared to classics such as The Scarlet Pimpernel , The Count of Monte Cristo and just this week a reader left a review on the Amazon page saying the book is on par with The Kite Runner . But all this means nothing if no one gets to know how good it is. Chances are that without some kind of genius strategy, The Prince of Naples is going to be drowned out by authors with more of a PR budget, those published traditionally and with louder voices and more time for social media than me (I’d rather write) and many of their books won’t deliver the reader with what The Prince of Naples can give them.

So I’m going to have to put on my thinking hat and work out what it is that is special about The Prince of Naples and how I can get that message out to the readers who are looking for it.

Watch this space for how I’m going to do it.
