Introverts, extroverts, and personality types: Do you know who you are?

A couple of weeks ago I wrote a post about introverts which received a surprising number of views, and resulted in a large (and amusing) number of emails. I say amusing, because although nearly 600 people viewed the post on Goodreads, none commented. I did, however, receive a whole bunch of emails. As my (extroverted) husband said, “Huh. Looks like the introverts have been here.”

The whole experience made me realize a couple of things. First, there are a lot of introverts out there, but since none of them (us) enjoy stepping forward, they (we) don’t generally have much of a voice.

Second, there’s a world of misunderstanding between introverts and extroverts. I had known that, of course, but the comments left on my Wordpress blog, combined with the emails I received, really brought the point home.

So, being an introvert, I thought about these things for a couple of weeks. My immediate thought was to post a link to the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, a personality test that’ll tell you all you need to know not only about yourself, but about your annoying coworker, relative, spouse, etc. But, again, being an introvert, I had to chew on the idea for a while.

In the end, I decided to go with the Jung Typology Test, mainly because it’s simpler. So…if you’ve always wondered if you’re “normal,” if you’ve worried you’re not like everyone else…or conversely, if you’re certain you’re surrounded by beings from another planet, this will have the answers.

Here’s the link: http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/j...

It can get really complicated, but the short story is this: You’ll end up with four letters. I’m an INTJ, and have been for decades. I could write books about what the different typologies mean (and many people have), but the down and dirty is this:

If you take the quick quiz, you’ll be one of 16 personality types: ISTJ, ISTP, ESTP, ESTJ, ISFP, ESFP, ESFJ, INFJ, INFP, ENFP, ENFJ, INTJ, ISFJ, INTP, ENTP, ENTJ.

For detailed information about your type, this link covers it all, strengths, weaknesses, how you fit into the world, etc.:

It’s fascinating stuff (but then, apparently I have a scientific mind ;-)).

Patti Pelling peace I'm a ENFJ. Pretty spot on, even if I do say so myself.

Yep, mine is me to a "T," warts and all.
