You know what's funny? My rank shot back up to around 50,000 after I posted this yesterday. I think I scared them a little. ;)

They don't have any problems allowing "reviews" by the likes of the infamous Harriet Klausner! Not ..."
Yes, I was shocked to find out from a couple of people that Amazon refused to post their reviews of my book. The email they were sent from Amazon alluded to the possibility of the review being biased in favor of the author. I'm still unsure of how they came to that conclusion. I agree with your statement about the lack of moderation for 'negative' reviews...I have seen some that were appalling!
Thanks for sharing that article, I had not read that particular piece but have read others like it. It is a catch-22, I guess. If you go through the trouble of seeking a publisher, you won't make much money, but you will get plenty of publicity.
That is the good thing about self-publishing. :) The reward is much better as long as you have a good product and truckloads of patience and persistence!
I have to admit, I had never looked at author ranking until I published a book. Now it's just another thing that I perseverate on as I try to market myself.
**sigh**
Ironically, since publishing this post, my ranking has dropped to around the 8000-10,000 mark. Hmmmmm, interesting. :)

I agree, it does smack of censorship. Then again, after looking at the links you shared, maybe it is the power of commercialism?
However, the distinction in this instance, is negligible. Either way, their policies are clearly not designed to serve the common man...I am reminded of Machiavelli rather than Orwell. :)
I've never cared for Orwell though...just thinking about Animal Farm gives me the heebie jeebies!!
Oh, you're welcome! I hope you get great use out of 'perseverate', it's a great word but an unfortunate activity, and one I do too often!
