What Makes A Hero Heroic?

Here's a link to a short interview I did last year during the RWA Conference as part of the Popular Romance Project, talking about how one heroine's hero may be seen in a completely different light by others. *coughDmitricough*

Who are your favorite antagonists turned heroes? And did you like him before his own book?

Susana I have to admit that Dmitri wasn't my favorite person...vampire *cough* before his book. In fact, i was hoping for some serious pain being delivered to the guy (a heavy object to his thick skull would probably be a good place to start...) by Elena! :D
BUT, his book really changed how i started seeing him...and surprise, surprise, he's now my favorite male character in the Guild Hunter world!! Yes, Hell has frozen...

Regarding favorite couples who had a rocky start, lol, well does Mercy and Riley count? Because if yes, they're one of my favorites! :)
Then there's Sebastian and Evie in "A devil in Winter" by Lisa Kleypas. Sebastian behaved atrociously in the book previous to his own, so i never would have thought that i would end up liking the guy!

In The Fairy Godmother the situation of the main couple is complicated. He's a prince, she's a Godmother...and he's so stubborn that he ends up being being transformed into a donkey..by her! :)

In Seanan Mcguire world of "October Daye", Toby and Tybalt start by having a rough path. They don't know if they can trust one another. It took them 6 books to finally confess their feelings to one another!!

Then there's Marcus Didius Falco and Helena Justina in Lindsey Davis series. The first one is called The Silver Pigs. In the beginning they really hated one another!

Also Emerson and Amelia Peabody in Elizabeth Peters, provided some interesting moments when they first met one another in the first of their series Crocodile on the Sandbank.

Oh, and last but not least Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett in "Pride and Prejudice". :)
Captain Wentworth and Anne Elliot in Persuasion....and so on and on...

Malinda I know I've read a number of books with this type of hero but right off hand the only ones I can think of are

Mr Darcy from Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (a given)

and one from a recent read I just loved...
Motorcycle Man (Dream Man, #4) by Kristen Ashley
Tack is a real jerk in the beginning of the book but he ends up being so sweet and such a great guy. Just love a gruff biker going all tender and sweet. :D

Malinda Actually...when it comes to gruff bikers going sweet for a girl there's also Horse from Reaper's Property (Reapers MC, #1) by Joanna Wylde . I just love Horse!

And His Teddy Bear by Eve Langlais . Reece was a real jerk at first but was one of my fave heros by the end. :D

And then there's Cooper from
How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf (Naked Werewolf, #1) by Molly Harper Thought he was a real jerk at first and Mo should've hit him upside the head with a baseball bat a few times but in the end I just had to love him. :)
