While talking with some young readers about my book, I found myself discussing point of view. In particular, we were discussing a character* who serves as the narrator's rival. As you can imagine, a character viewed through a rival's lens tends to come across negatively. I'll be the first to admit that the character in question does some ugly things, but I urged the students to remember that we see that character through his antagonist's lens.
