GAME OF THRONES Plushies

Now available at the HBO Shoppe near you:

GoT-toys-580x457

(What, you don't have an HBO Shoppe near you? Neither do I, as it happens. But there's got to be someplace to get these online too, so you can all have your own fluffy direwolf and dragon's egg).

Never in my wildest dreams... no, it is NOT April 1st...

Milk it, I say. Couldn’t happen to a better series. Think of all the money George Lucas made on the merchandise alone. Get it out there! Make it more popular! The more fans, the less likely GRRM will be able to stretch out writing the last two books. (Not knocking GRRM! I’ve been there with him since nearly the beginning and I believe his heart is still “pure” about his series. I know what enormous pressure he must be feeling already. Just I—like countless others—wish for a resolution before my retirement! ’S all I’m sayin’.)

Well, let’s be fair. He isn’t personally merchandising any of this, and though I’m sure they let him look at designs, he probably didn’t have much input. It’s not as though he’s processing credit cards and packaging orders.

I’m just happy that he’s finally making bags of money on his opus magnum and that merchandising means there’s enough interest in his work to see it through to the end. With so many more people invested in the TV series, he really is under a lot more pressure not only to get it finished inside 8 years but to have to satisfy right to the end.
