My Blog Hop Interview

I’m new to blogging and I have to admit that I have neglected my blog since I’m working on my latest novel. However, that is the focus of this post. I am in a new group on facebook called Writer’s Review and Support Resource Group. On Wednesdays the group does a blog hop and this week there are ten questions that the writers are asked to answer about their next big thing. Here are the answers to my questions;

What is the working title of your book?

Soul Custody 2 Devon Returns

Where did the idea come from?

This is the third book in the Soul Custody series. In book one, Soul Custody, timid homemaker Gabriella, is left by her arrogant and self consumed husband Devon Hutchinson. She has to put her anger and emotions to the side and get her life together for herself and her daughter. In the process, she meets and falls in love with Matthew Savant. Her happiness is short-lived because Devon returns and wants his family back and will do anything to get it. In the second book, The Perfect Choice, strong-willed and sassy Tanya Campbell, Gabriella’s best friend finds love on a fix me up cruise, but it’s not what she expected. In Soul Custody 2, Devon has returned with a new lease on life, but convincing people that he has changed will be harder than he expected.

What is the genre? Which actors would you choose to play the characters of the movie rendition?

Soul Custody 2 is an African-American romance novel.

Gabriella would be played by Rochelle Aytes, Matthew would be played by Laz Alonso, Devon would be played by Morris Chestnut, Malia would be played by Jurnee Smollet-Bell Tanya would be played by K D Aubert, Malik would be played by Michael Ealy, and little Sabrina is played by, Mirabelle Lee

What is the one sentence synopsis of your book? Will your book be selfpublished or represented by an agency/publisher?

My book is self-published and it is the story of; man filled with anger and sense of self- entitlement seeks to redeem himself in order to have a relationship with his daughter and hold on to a new love in the process.

How long did it take to write the first draft?

I am half way through the first draft. At the moment it looks like it will be around 220 pages.

What other books would you compare it to in your genre?

At the moment, I don’t know of any other books that I would compare Soul Custody to. I have read books by other wonderful authors with similar styles. However, I feel each story is as unique as the author who is writing it.

Who, or what inspired you to write this book?

There were many things that inspired me write this book and The Perfect Choice. However, I would say the readers who read the first book were my main inspiration. They abhorred Devon so much and they felt his story was unfinished.

What else about your book might pique the readers’ interest?

Something that may pique the interest of the readers is that some parts of this story are from actual events of my childhood.

I enjoyed doing this blog hop and I hope you enjoyed reading it and learning more about my series. I am tagging Phoenix C Brown and Cassandra Baker-Durham.
