Mine are fifty-cents to seventy-five-cents for paperbacks and $1 for hardcover, with kid and YA being cheaper sometimes.
Still, that isn't bad. A lot of places I've been to are twice that--or more!
I'm super excited about that one. Tamora Pierce's characters are always so refreshingly self-sufficient, and I hear it's her best.

Yessssss. I'm so happy!
This is such a great thing to see. Thrift stores for the win! Picked up a copy of The Great Gatsby for 20p yesterday. I gave him £1: felt a little bad...
The majority of my books are from the thrift store...Goodwill specifically as they have the most selection. One is even the kind where everything is in these big vats and you have to dig...I'm short so I always end up with bruises on my stomach after a good hour or two digging. But the books are 25 cent per pound and that makes it well worth the effort.

This, this, this. And my local thrift store is awesome because books are really cheap--20¢ each.
(And since I see you picked up a copy of Alanna: The First Adventure, let me just say that it's one of my favorite series of all time, and I hope you enjoy it!)
