Update on Sequel!

I have posted here and there about the sequel, but haven't properly come out and given an update. SO, here it goes:

I had originally projected that the sequel would be released in December. Since then, so much has changed...

First, I have joined forces with Harlequin, who now owns the print and ebook rights to both Blindfolded Innocence AND Masked Innocence (the sequel). Their involvement means that BI and the sequel will be available in print form throughout the world, but also (and more importantly to you) will be professionally edited and published, a process that Blindfolded Innocence is currently undergoing, and one that has improved it immensely. I submitted the sequel to Harlequin in November, hoping and pushing them to release the sequel as close to December 20th as possible. I am quickly learning that publishers work on a COMPLETELY different time table than little 'ole me.

It took three weeks to get a response, but Harlequin has finally committed that they will rush the sequel through the publication process, but will not release it until AFTER Blindfolded Innocence's print release, which will happen in June 2013. So, bottom line - the sequel won't be released until probably July or August 2013. I cringed when I got this news, and am fully prepared for the rotten fruit, curses, and any hatred you want to throw my way. I'm ready, please don't throw things too hard.

But, on the flip side - as angry as I was (and I was steaming), when I found out about the sequels' late release date, I was just as brought down to size when I got my editor's notes on the sequel. Truth be told - the sequel IS NOT READY. I would have published it, and I know you would have loved it, but reading over my editor's notes, I see all of the possibilities and ways that the sequel could grow, improve, be better than what I would have released. The publishers have their ridiculous time tables because time is needed to flesh out, rewrite, and properly proofread the book. I am currently going through almost a total rewrite and reorganization of the sequel, and loving me some Brad De Luca in the process. :)

In conclusion - sorry this turned into a soapbox speech - I sincerely apologize that I will not be able to meet the original, announced deadline of December 20th. I will release some teasers between now and its release - it's the best I can offer right now.

Forgive me for changing everything, but please know that, in the giant scheme of things, this is great news for both BI and the sequel. Thank you for your support, and for taking the time to read my smut. I love you all for it!

*okay, you can throw stuff now - I am ducking!*

Andrea I can't say I'm not thoroughly disappointed....have been waiting for this story continue. And I'm sure the product you were ready to publish would have been great, but if its out of your hands......it just blows having to wait sooooooooooo long!!!

Jakeline totally dissapointed.

Laura Hansen It will be worth the wait!!!

Dawn Marie The only things when things are pushed so far back like that is people forget the previous story and no longer think about the follow up to that book. It stinks that it is such a long wait.

Colleen Marie I'm sure it'll be worth the wait....but sad that the publisher takes control away from the writer. I'm sure in the end it's worth it to the writer but hard to swallow the loss of having total 'say' over a publication date. This has happened to several books I've read in the past 4 months and the sequels are being delayed by publishers. On top of that....the price increases. This is the flip-side for us readers when we promote writers.....in the end we have to wait longer and pay more. Sad but true and the good part is what being 'picked-up' by a publishing house does for the writer. I'll put this sequel on my calendar in hopes it does come out in August 2013. It'll be a good excuse to read the first book again, as well.

Jeni Why do we have to pay on Amazon to get the updated book? Is that a Harlequin decision? If that's the case then I'll just wait and get both books and leave the kindle alone.

Though I probably would have bought the books anyway. ♥

Alessandra Torre Jeni,

I just reread my post above, and it is very drawn out and long and confusing, so I apologize for that. :(

In June, Harlequin will offer Blindfolded Innocence in print form, and also a new, improved ebook version, like an extended version (which will be identical to the print version). You don't need to buy this version if you have already read BI, nothing is added that will affect the sequel/story progression. BUT, if you really want the extended version (or to have the book in print version), you are free to buy it. The version that Harlequin has on Amazon right now is not any different from one you would have bought in the past except that it has less grammatical or formatting errors.

A month or two after the print/ebook release of BI, Harlequin will release the ebook version of the sequel. The print version of the sequel takes more time, and will probably come out in December, unless they can get things done sooner than that.

Does that make sense? I still feel like my wording is confusing, but I've learned communication isn't my strong point. :(

I really appreciate your support, thank you so much for being so great. <3
