Public funds: How are they being spent?

Unaccountable spending of public funds has become a trend in Jacob Zuma's government. Over R 250 million has been spent on the president's private residence at Nkandla and it is not clear where this money has come from. Lindiwe Sisulu and Tina Joemat-Pettersson, both Ministers in Jacob Zuma's government have been accused of recklessly spending public funds. Sisulu travelled in a luxury Gulfstream jet more than 200 times between Pretoria and Cape Town, at the cost of R200,000 a trip, when she was Minister of Defence. Joemat-Peterson is accused of spending public money on her own family and on personal holidays. Joemat-Pettersson incurred over R150,000 for return flights for her two children and their au pair from Sweden to South Africa in January 2010. According to the Public Protector, this was in violation of the provisions of paragraph 3.4 of chapter six of the Ministerial Handbook.
