Is there a term for this?

I'm trying to figure out if there's a specific term for when you encounter a problem and you end up with a better end product because of the creative workaround you need to employ. Is this even a thing?

Jordan Price Thank you! That's been suggested to me. Maybe I'm bringing a shade of meaning to "serendipity" that isn't really there. Wouldn't you say a serendipitous event is something that happened by luck or chance? I'm looking for something that is better because of adversity.

Suzanne (Doppleganger) At work we call this getting something 'unfucked', but that's probably not what you're going for. :)

Jordan Lombard I was going to suggest the term to "MacGuyver" something, but I don't think the end result is necessarily better. It just gets the job done. Gosh, I haven't seen that show in ages!

I love how his name became a verb. That really says something about the character being successfully written and understood.

Jordan Lombard Totally. And I love to MacGuyver things myself. I do it all the time. And then someone else comes along and says "Well, you could have just done X, rather than X, Y, Z, and A, B, C, Plus M, N, and O." lol.
